PRESIDENT DR. MWINYI: ZANZIBAR AND INDIA TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION IN EDUCATION, TRADE AND TECHNOLOGY

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has thanked the Government of India for its continued efforts to strengthen cooperation with Tanzania in the sectors of education, health, trade, investment, water, science and technology. President Dr. Mwinyi made the remarks today, July 19, 2026, when he met with India's Minister of External Affairs, Hon. Dr. S. Jaishankar, at a conference hall at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, India. During the discussions, President Dr. Mwinyi asked India to increase the number of scholarship and training opportunities for students and professionals from Zanzibar, as well as to strengthen the IIT Madras Zanzibar campus by introducing more academic programmes and supporting the construction of its permanent campus. President Dr. Mwinyi also handed over to Minister Jaishankar the Master Plan for the construction of the permanent IIT Madras Zanzibar campus, aimed at making Zanzibar a hub for higher …
